PAM Lauds Formation Of Talent Corporation

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) on Monday praised the government for forming the Malaysian Talent Corporation to bring back talented Malaysians from abroad.

Speaking at a press conference here Monday, its president Ar Boon Chee Wee said: "This is a great initiative. Because we do have talents but don't have enough platform to help them expand their capability and capacity here."

"We do have a shortage of architects, and the effect is that local firms are not able to expand their capability and capacity and thus face problems in competing with international architects."
He said this in commenting on the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Brussels on Monday that the corporation would take off in January.

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) also echoed his comments. Its president Dr David K.L Quek, when contacted by Bernama, he said it was a great initiative and that steps should also be taken to ensure that those returning had good career paths so that they would remain
in the country.
